Building a resilient ecological network of conserved areas across Europe for nature and people
NaturaConnect aims to support countries in designing and developing a blueprint for a truly coherent Trans-European Nature Network (TEN-N) of conserved areas that protect at least 30% of land in the European Union, with at least one third of it under strict protection. Our project unites universities and research institutes, government bodies and non-governmental organisations, working together with key stakeholders to create targeted data, knowledge and tools, and build the capacity needed to support European Union Member States in realising an ecologically representative, resilient and well-connected network of conserved areas across Europe.
Upcoming event

From science to action: Strategic planning for the Trans-European Nature Network (TEN-N) | 26 & 27 November 2025, Brussels
The NaturaConnect Horizon Europe project provides scientific analyses, actionable tools, and recommendations that EU Member States can utilise for achieving these key EU biodiversity and restoration goals. This event will provide practical insights into our work and enable participants to:
– Leverage key project outputs for prioritising protected area expansion, restoration and ecological connectivity
– Contribute to the final TEN-N implementation strategy across scales
We will present the results of the scientific analyses on protected areas and corridor design on a pan-European Scale. During a participatory exercise, we will compare EU priorities for conserving and restoring connectivity with national and sub-national priorities (Day 1).
Day 2 will focus on the enablers for planning and implementing connectivity and protected areas across scales. These will be a crucial component of the final project report on strategic TEN-N implementation.
