NaturaConnect at the UN Biodiversity Conference (COP 15)
NaturaConnect project coordinators Piero Visconti, Nestor Fernandez and Henrique Pereira participated in the landmark conference of the parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity in Montreal this week, and presented NaturaConnect in various thematic sessions.
This included the Science Policy Forum from 11-12 December where Nestor Fernandez and Piero Visconti presented NaturaConnect planned activities for identifying conservation and restoration priorities to enhance connectivity within and between protected areas. These presentations are visible here. Henrique Pereira presented work related to monitoring the state of biodiversity in conservation networks and assessing their performance.
Today Piero Visconti is presenting the project in the side event titled ‘’Harnessing the Power of Spatial Data: Spatial Data for GBF Planning’’, followed by a short address by the project advisory board member Elena Osipova, who oversees various aspects related to protected areas in the European Environment Agency.
