The session began with an introduction to NaturaConnect, followed by a deep dive into the different types of costs involved in expanding protected area networks, illustrated through a detailed case study on the Sonian Forest. Participants also explored the landscape of EU public funding and private financing options, and heard about the BioClima initiative in Lombardy, which showcases how public-private partnerships can support ecosystem services. The webinar concluded with an outlook on the upcoming Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and an open discussion with participants.
