Building a resilient ecological network of conserved areas across Europe for nature and people

NaturaConnect aims to support countries in designing and developing a blueprint for a truly coherent Trans-European Nature Network (TEN-N) of conserved areas that protect at least 30% of land in the European Union, with at least one third of it under strict protection. Our project unites universities and research institutes, government bodies and non-governmental organisations, working together with key stakeholders to create targeted data, knowledge and tools, and build the capacity needed to support European Union Member States in realising an ecologically representative, resilient and well-connected network of conserved areas across Europe.

Case Studies

NaturaConnect encompasses six European case studies, which are informing TEN-N implementation and will help test the analysis tools and methodologies developed under the project.

The Final Event of NaturaConnect: Science, Policy and the Future of Europe’s Nature Network

Brussels, September 22 | Join us for a day of keynotes and interactive panel sessions exploring how the results from four years of Horizon Europe research can strengthen the EU’s protected area network – and help Member States deliver on the commitments of the EU Biodiversity Strategy 2030, the Nature Restoration Regulation and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
